Dr. Sailila E. Abdula is the new chairperson of the Regional Research and Development Coordinating Council (RRDCC) of the SOCCSKSARGEN Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research, Development and Extension Consortium (SOXAARRDEC).
Doc Sai as he is fondly called was the former Vice-Chairperson of the RRDCC and succeeded Dr. Rolando F. Hechanova of Sultan Kudarat State University who served his two-year term as RRDCC chair from April 2019 – March 2021. The turn-over ceremony was officially done on March 5, 2021 during the 1st RRDCC meeting for 2021.
The accomplished public servant obtained his PhD in Agriculture from Chungbuk National University in South Korea where he capitalized his expertise on field of plant breeding and molecular biology/biotechnology. A true Muslim public official, his exemplary leadership and dedication to public service are manifested on his numerous major awards including Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award (2018 National Winner) and ASEAN Rice Science and Technology Ambassadors Award (2017 National Award). He also topped other nominees in the 2016 Gawad Saka Award (National Winner -Research Category).
Dr Abdula envisions to further sustain the activities and programs conducted, and further strengthen the commitment of each agency involved in the implementations of major interventions that will eventually lead to the achievements of SOXAARDEC’s vision and mission.
The new RRDCC chair is currently the director of Philippine Rice Research Institute Midsayap Branch.
