A delegation from Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) visited the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) for a benchmarking activity focused on campus-based enterprise development, particularly on digital printing services on May 8, 2025.

The group initially paid a courtesy call with USM President Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel before proceeding to the University Multimedia Production Center (UMPC) to explore USM’s Print-on-Demand (POD) system. The system, operated by the UMPC, serves as a model of cost-effective, fast, and flexible printing services for both internal and external stakeholders.

During the visit, Prof. Allan C. Facurib, the Executive Assistant for Media Affairs of USM, received the DSSC personnel. He presented the operational structure and sustainability of the POD enterprise. In addition, business processes, technical aspects, and production workflow, were discussed.

The highlight of the benchmarking activity was a live demonstration of the POD system, showcasing digital printing equipment capable of high-speed, low-cost output. The group also visited the binding station located in a separate facility to observe the complete production cycle from printing to post-production.

Prof. Facurib noted DSSC’s strong interest in replicating USM’s POD system for their own business enterprise unit. He emphasized that the model’s scalability and efficiency make it ideal for academic printing and publishing needs.
