MATALAM, COTABATO — Demonstrating a steadfast commitment to grassroots education, the College of Arts and Social Sciences-Local Student Government (CASS-LSG) extended vital literacy support to Matalam High School through a donation initiative held on March 27, 2026.

The mission was carried out under Project REACH (Resources for Empowerment, Awareness, and Community Help). This project is designed to bridge gaps in educational accessibility by providing essential learning tools and fostering a culture of community engagement among university students.

Educational materials—including books, DVDs, and a DVD/Blu-ray player—were turned over to the school to bolster access to instructional resources. The distribution was integrated into the school’s recognition program, adding to the celebration of the students’ academic achievements.

The success of the initiative was driven by a collaborative effort among the CASS-LSG, the Political Science Society, and the Criminology Society. A key contributor to the project’s realization was Prof. Marlon T. Salvador of the Department of English Language and Literature, who served as the primary sponsor of the donated materials.

Through Project REACH, the university continues to fulfill its mission of social responsibility. The initiative serves as a sustainable model for university-led community extension, demonstrating how student-led organizations can effectively support partner schools and contribute to the advancement of education in Cotabato Province.
