Following the turnover of educational materials to Matalam High School, the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) College of Arts and Social Sciences – Local Student Government (CASS-LSG), in partnership with Balaod Mindanaw, initiated a series of discussions on March 27, 2026. The program aimed to promote cyber safety and foster responsible online behavior among the student body.
The initiative, titled “CASSayuran: A Safe Space for Smart Choices,” is a key component of CASS-LSG’s extension efforts to bolster inclusive education and active community engagement.
The one-day session featured Mr. Liam Aiken Osorio and Ms. Ruby Buntas, who spearheaded the cybersecurity discussions. Their presentation focused on critical online safety measures and the common threats posed by cyberbullying and identity theft. To spark meaningful dialogue, Mr. Osorio facilitated an interactive workshop and open forum, providing students with practical strategies to mitigate digital risks and safeguard their online identities.
The successful implementation of the initiative was made possible through the leadership of the CASS-LSG, headed by Governor Renz Johann Cabangon.
Through this initiative, the university ensured that Matalam High School students are empowered with the knowledge necessary to navigate the digital world safely. The program ultimately aimed to foster a digitally literate community capable of self-protection against online exploitation.
