The SOCCSKSARGEN Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (SOXAARRDEC), in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Midsayap, successfully conducted the Project FEEDS (Formulation on Effective and Excellent Diet Systems) on August 19, 2026, at the Municipal Hall Rooftop, Midsayap, Cotabato.

The activity brought together 43 participants composed of livestock and poultry raisers, agricultural stakeholders, and representatives from the local agriculture and fisheries sectors. The program formally opened with the preliminaries, followed by a welcome message and recognition of participants from Dr. Charlimagne F. Fugata, Municipal Agriculturist of LGU Midsayap. Words of appreciation were delivered by Ms. Earlyn Sijira, Coordinator of the Municipal Fisheries Office, Mr. Jeremias E. Obina, President of the Midsayap Hog Raiser Association, and Mr. Meo Baylon, BOD/MAFCO Chairperson.

Dr. Julius Jerome G. Ele, Consortium Director, presented the rationale of Project FEEDS and introduced the resource persons. The technical session featured two major presentations. Dr. Ele discussed “Non-Conventional Feed Resources for Livestock and Poultry.” The second component focused on the Feed Formulation App, facilitated by Dr. Ele and Prof. Ryan Z. Gonzaga, Assistant Professor IV of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM). The session provided participants with practical exposure to technology-assisted feed formulation.

The program concluded with participants’ impressions, the awarding of certificates to resource persons and participants, and documentation. Ms. Rosario V. Ibesate, Senior Agriculturist of OMAG-Midsayap, delivered the closing remarks, emphasizing the value of continued learning and collaboration in improving agricultural production practices.

The activity highlights SOXAARRDEC’s continuing commitment to translating agricultural research, technologies, and innovations into practical knowledge that can benefit local communities. Through its collaboration with LGU Midsayap, the consortium was able to bring research-based approaches closer to agricultural producers and other stakeholders who directly contribute to the livestock and poultry sector.
