USM Nakiisa sa Ika- 79 na Kapagayan Festival ng Kabacan

Nakiisa ang University of Southern Mindanao sa pagdiriwang ng Ika‑79 na Kapagayan Festival ng Bayan ng Kabacan nitong Agosto 18, 2026 sa Kabacan Plaza, Cotabato.

Dumalo sa nasabing okasyon si Gobernadora Emmylou Taliño Mendoza ng Lalawigan ng Cotabato. Sa kanyang talumpati, binigyang‑diin ng Gobernadora ang malaking pag‑unlad ng Kabacan sa mga nakaraang taon sa pamamagitan ng masinop na pamumuno at produktibong pakikipagtulungan ng kasalukuyang administrasyon. Ipinahayag din niya ang kanyang pagmamalaki sa mahalagang papel ng USM sa pag‑unlad ng bayan at ng lalawigan sa larangan ng ekonomiya, akademya, at inobasyon.

“Salamat sa USM lalo na sa napakagagaling na mga experts at professors,” dagdag pa niya.

Samantala, binigyang‑diin ni Bise Alkalde Herlo P. Guzman Jr. na sa kabila ng mga krisis na kinakaharap ng bansa, patuloy na ipinapakita ng mga Kabaceño ang diwa ng pagkakaisa sa pamamagitan ng simpleng pagdiriwang ng kapistahan.

“Tayo po ay sumusunod sa order galing sa nasyonal at mananatiling tapat po ang Kabacan sa pagsunod nito,” aniya.

Bilang pagpapakita ng taos‑pusong pasasalamat, nagbigay ng mensahe si Alkalde Evangeline P. Guzman sa lahat ng kasapi ng komunidad para sa tagumpay ng festival at sa patuloy na pagsuporta sa mga programa ng lokal na pamahalaan.

Ang Kapagayan Festival ay taunang pista tuwing Agosto na nagdiriwang ng kasaganaan sa agrikultura at pagkakaisa ng kultura sa Kabacan. Ipinagdiriwang nito ang pagkakakilanlan ng bayan bilang pangunahing sentro ng agrikultura, pagbigay‑pugay sa mga magsasaka, masaganang ani ng palay, at mapayapang pamumuhay ng mga pamayanang Kristiyano, Muslim, at Lumad.

Kinatawan ng USM sa naturang pagdiriwang sina Dr. Leorence C. Tandog, Pangalawang Pangulo para sa Academic Affairs; Dr. Samsudin S. Panday, Pangalawang Pangulo para sa Resource Generation and Entrepreneurial Services; kasama ang mga direktor at dekano ng unibersidad.

𝗨𝗦𝗠 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘀 𝗞𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹

The University of Southern Mindanao participated in the celebration of the 79th Kapagayan Festival of the Municipality of Kabacan on August 18, 2026 at the Kabacan Plaza, Cotabato.

Cotabato Province Governor Emmylou Taliño Mendoza graced the event. In her speech, Governor Mendoza highlighted how far Kabacan have gone over the years under the productive collaborations and leadership of the current administration. Additionally, Governor Mendoza proudly recognized the vital role the University of Southern Mindanao plays in the progress of the municipality and the province in the sectors of economy, academe, and innovation.

“Salamat sa USM lalo na sa napakagagaling na mga experts at professors.” She added.

Meanwhile, Kabacan Vice Mayor Herlo P. Guzman Jr. emphasized that even in the middle of crisis the country is currently facing, Kabaceños continue to embody the spirit of unity by celebrating the festivity in the simplest way possible amidst the crisis.

“Tayo po ay sumusunod sa order galing sa nasyonal at mananatiling tapat po ang Kabacan sa pagsunod nito.” He said.

As a form of her immense gratitude, Kabacan Municipal Mayor Evangeline P. Guzman expressed word of thanks to all members of the community for the success of the festival and for continuously supporting the initiatives of the LGU.

Kapagayan Festival celebrates agricultural abundance and cultural unity in Kabacan. It is the annual August festival which honors the municipality’s identity as a major agricultural hub, that pays tribute to its farmers, bountiful rice harvests, and the peaceful co-existence of its Christian, Muslim, and Lumad communities.
