In its ongoing effort to evaluate the impact and sustainability of extension projects, the Extension Services Office (ESO), through the Monitoring and Impact Assessment Unit, successfully evaluated three projects on July 23, 2026.

This effort forms part of the extension project “Monitoring and Evaluating the Progress and Impact of USM Extension Projects,” headed by Project Leader and Education Program Specialist I Rahima A. Cabunto.

The extension projects—“Safe Spaces: Fighting Sexual Harassment through Education and Empowerment,” “Student Registration Management and Library Services for Carmen Senior High School: System Deployment and Resource Enhancement,” and “LEVEL-UP”—underwent thorough evaluation through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs).

Held simultaneously at the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), Brgy. Cuyapon in Kabacan, and Carmen National High School, the FGD sessions gathered security guards, Senior High School teachers, and Maguindanaon women who served as participants during the training sessions of the three projects.

A key highlight of the FGD session held at USM was a comprehensive conversation on the beneficiaries’ knowledge gain and learning processes.

“Mas naintindihan po talaga namin ‘yung mga itinuro sa amin kasi pagkatapos ng lecture may demonstration then kami naman po mismo ‘yung gagawa,” said one of the security guard participants.

On the other hand, target beneficiaries at Carmen National High School expressed positive feedback: “Napakaganda nung technology nung project kasi naging useful siya sa school namin kasi napapadali namin ‘yung enrolment,” shared one of the senior high school teacher-beneficiaries.

A Client Satisfaction Survey (CSS) was also administered to complement the insights gathered from the FGDs. The successful conduct of the evaluation activities was facilitated by Prof. Anamarie B. Uyangurin (Monitoring and Impact Assessment Unit Head), Ms. Rahima A. Cabunto (EPS I), Mr. Jimwell P. Pande (Extension Editor and Staff), and Mr. Diether M. Barro (Extension Staff).

This continued effort underscores the ESO’s commitment to ensuring that projects yield a sustainable impact, holistically contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
