EastWest Rural Bank, one of USM’s partner institutions, conducted a free eye check-up activity for employees of the Administration Office of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), Kabacan Cotabato, as part of its corporate social responsibility and health outreach initiatives.
According to Ronald P. Fabiolas, Team Leader for Sales of EastWest Rural Bank, the activity aims to help employees monitor their eye health and encourage regular vision screening. He added that the bank plans to conduct more health-related outreach programs in partnership with the university.
Dr. Julius Caesar G. Palma, Optometrist, conducted the eye examinations and emphasized the importance of having regular eye check-ups, ideally once a year, to detect changes in vision and identify possible eye conditions at an early stage.

One of the participants, Bernalou M. Malaque, shared that the screening revealed changes in her eye grade and highlighted the importance of using prescription eyeglasses recommended by an eye-care professional.
The activity reflects the continued partnership between EastWest Rural Bank and USM in promoting the health and well-being of the university community.
