The Alumni Association Building of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) was formally turned over on June 20, 2026, during a ceremony held at the university campus.
The facility will serve as the official home of the university’s alumni association and a venue for meetings, activities, and other engagements involving USM graduates. It is also expected to provide a space where alumni can reconnect with one another and remain involved in university initiatives.
Funded through the office of Cotabato Third District Representative Ma. Alana Samantha T. Santos, the project was constructed at a cost of ₱4,698,131.20, and was implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Cotabato 3rd District Engineering Office in Lanao, Kidapawan City.
During the turnover ceremony, Cong. Santos encouraged young people and alumni to consider returning to their hometowns after pursuing opportunities elsewhere. She said communities also need people who are willing to share their skills and help create opportunities closer to home.
She also spoke about the role of leaders and citizens in shaping the future of their communities, noting that development depends not only on government efforts but also on people who continue to support and believe in their locality.
Following the program, university and local officials joined the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new facility.
Among those present were USM President Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel, Kabacan Mayor Evangeline Guzman, and officers of the Mindanao Institute of Technology-USM Alumni Association headed by its president, Dr. Paul John Ongcoy, who also serves as Alumni Regent.
