Twenty-two young learners took part in the 24th Moving Up Ceremony of the Gender-Child Care Center (GCCC) of the University of Southern Mindanao on May 19, 2026, held at Café Martina, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.
The ceremony recognized 10 completers from Prekindergarten 2 and 12 completers from Prekindergarten 1. Parents, teachers, and guests gathered to witness the children’s completion rites and celebrate their progress throughout the school year.
Ms. Nicole Zane Martinez, a Batch 2010 alumna of the GCCC, served as the guest speaker during the ceremony. Martinez graduated from USM with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and is currently a certified Safety Officer 2.

In her message, Martinez encouraged the young completers to believe in themselves and not be afraid of making mistakes, reminding them that learning comes with experience. “Whatever your dreams may be, never stop believing in yourselves,” she said.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Leorence C. Tandog also attended the ceremony and shared words of encouragement for the completers as they continue their studies.
The GCCC operates under the College of Education headed by Dean Dr. Ma. Leslie Sales. The center is managed by Prof. Faith P. Buned, while Ms. Jessa O. Roa serves as adviser for the Prekindergarten 1 and 2 classes.
