The University of Southern Mindanao and Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on July 19, 2026, at the ZPPSU campus in Zamboanga City to strengthen research collaboration in Physical Education and Sports Science.

The partnership aims to improve research, innovation, and academic engagement in physical education, sports science, human kinetics, and educational studies. USM President Jonald L. Pimentel and ZPPSU President Nelson P. Cabral led the signing ceremony.

Under the agreement, both universities will work together on research projects, publications, conferences, and training activities. They will also support faculty and student collaboration, share research mentors, and develop proposals for local and international funding.

University officials said the partnership will help strengthen research culture, improve faculty skills, and produce studies that can benefit schools, communities, and the academic sector.
