April 15, 2026
The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Extension Services Office (ESO) officially unveiled the inaugural issue of its flagship magazine on April 14, 2026.
Titled“Engagements”, the magazine showcased the transformative extension projects and collaborative milestones achieved by the university’s extension arm from January to June 2025.
A total of 65 copies were distributed to university officials, office heads, and college extension coordinators during the launch. A feature of the publication highlighted the best practices in cacao bean fermentation, a section that pays tribute to the specialized dedication of USM experts in advancing sustainable agricultural technologies and empowering local farmers through value-added processing.
In her keynote message, ESO Director Glyn B. Gabano-Magbanua expressed deep gratitude for the faculty, students, and volunteer workers who translate academic knowledge into community solutions.
“We dedicate this issue to our extension volunteer workers, faculty, and students who extended their expertise,” Director Magbanua stated. “Your selfless service and tireless efforts in bridging the gap between our research and real-world application are the true heartbeat of our mission.”
As USM-ESO celebrates this milestone, preparation is already underway for the second volume, which will document the university’s grassroots engagements from July to December 2025. This bi-annual publication cycle underscores USM-ESO’s commitment to institutional transparency and rigorous reporting, ensuring that the university’s impact remains both visible and measurable to its stakeholders.
