March 2, 2026
The University of Southern Mindanao Hospital (USMH) conducted fire and earthquake drills at its facility in Kabacan, Cotabato on February 27, 2026, in line with Fire Prevention Month.
Personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Kabacan led the drills. Fire Officer 1 Jaypee Ryan Culanang, Fire Officer 1 Jasper John L. Porras, and Fire Officer 1 Christopher Malulan showed the proper steps to follow during emergencies. They demonstrated how to evacuate safely, use basic fire suppression techniques, and stay safe during earthquakes.

Hospital employees joined the drills and practiced organized evacuation and proper response inside the hospital. The activity helped staff become more familiar with safety procedures and prepared them to respond calmly in real emergency situations.
Dr. Liza Mariposque, the USMH Director, thanked the BFP Kabacan team for guiding the drills. She shared her hope that the hospital can improve its safety equipment next year, especially its emergency alarm systems, to further strengthen its emergency response.

The drills are part of the hospital’s continuing efforts to promote safety and preparedness among its staff especially in times of emergencies.
