Reinforcing its reputation as a mentoring institution, the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), through the Extension Services Office (ESO), shared its expertise with Cotabato State University (CotSU) during a benchmarking activity on February 16, 2025 at the ESO Conference Room. The initiative aimed to strengthen regional partnerships and exchange best practices in extension management.
Central to the discussion during the benchmarking activity are the extension management systems and protocols. Key areas of focus included the Load Displacement Policy, Project Procurement Management Plan (PPMP) processes, and the administration of Honoraria Grants for faculty extensionists.
The CotSU delegation, led by Ms. Samsia Ibrahim of the Office of Extension Services, included Mr. Franklin Tizon, Ms. Ameracil Nanto, Ms. A.S. Macacua, and Mr. Michael Ibrahim.
The benchmarking activity concluded with the prospect of a strategic partnership between USM and CotSU, as both institutions expressed a shared commitment to restoring the mangrove ecosystems in Cotabato City. Director Magbanua highlighted this potential collaboration, stating: “Since we are already here to discuss extension activities, I am looking forward to a partnership to rebuild the mangrove sanctuary in Cotabato City. I hope that you can join us in this initiative for a growing collaboration between our universities.”
Through USM’s strategic mentorship, CotSU is systematically integrating advanced extension management frameworks into its core operations. This transfer of expertise allows the university to streamline its extension processes, ensuring that these streamlined processes serve as a blueprint for other universities, fostering a collaborative network where shared extension management frameworks drive regional development.
