Officials from the University of Southern Mindanao, Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) convened to identify areas of collaboration at SKSU, City of Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat, on January 20, 2026 

This initiative forms part of the universities’ efforts to enhance faculty and student mobility, both locally and internationally, while also providing relevant trainings and seminars that will further enhance the professional competencies of faculty members.

With SKSU, the institutions prioritized faculty exchange initiatives, particularly within Graduate School programs, alongside the co-hosting of workshops, trainings, and other related academic activities that would benefit both institutions.

With UTeM), the talk expanded the scope of cooperation to include both faculty and student exchange programs for undergraduate and graduate levels. Research collaboration also emerged as a key area of partnership. The discussion emphasized the value of joint studies and knowledge-sharing across institutions.

Lastly, during the meeting parties agreed to prepare the necessary Memoranda of Agreement and Memoranda of Understanding to formally institutionalize the partnerships and ensure the smooth implementation of the agreed-upon initiatives.

Dr. Leorence C. Tandog, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Leonard M. Paleta, the Director for Instruction, Prof. Sofia G. Molao, Dean of the Institute of Middle East and Asian Studies (IMEAS), represented USM in the said meeting.
