October 10, 2025Prof. Ronald Z. Pascual, a professor from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), clinched second place and a ₱15,000 cash prize for his innovation titled “Innovative Biomass Composter (IBC)” during the Pitching Competition at the First Mindanao-Wide Technology Transfer Conference held on October 1, 2025, at Caraga State University, Butuan City.
The conference, themed “From Innovation to Impact: Advancing AANR Technologies through SUC Collaboration,” brought together innovators, researchers, and technology transfer practitioners from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) across Mindanao. It served as a platform to showcase promising agri-aqua and natural resources (AANR) technologies that contribute to sustainable development and regional advancement.
Prof. Pascual’s Innovative Biomass Composter, which converts agricultural waste into organic fertilizer, promotes regenerative agriculture, and supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and climate action, was recognized for its strong potential to create real-world impact. His achievement reflects USM’s growing commitment to advancing sustainable, science-based innovations that address environmental and agricultural challenges in Mindanao.
