The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) honored 44 tricycle drivers who exemplify honest service during the Gabi ng Parangal 2025 held on September 27, 2025, at the University Auditorium, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.

The award recognizes their dedication and integrity in serving passengers within the university community. In his message, Lawrence Anthony U. Dollente, PhD, Director of the University Quality Assurance Office (UQAO), emphasized that the Honesty Seal is bestowed upon tricycle drivers who demonstrate goodwill and honesty—especially by returning belongings left behind in their vehicles, such as bags, money, cellphones, and other valuables.

“The Gawad Katapatan is an acknowledgment given to tricycle drivers who serve as models of honesty and integrity in their duties. In the midst of the daily challenges of life, these individuals have demonstrated true integrity. They also wholeheartedly serve the USM community.” Dr. Dollente added.

As response, Mr. Manam K. Baliwan, one of the tricycle drivers, expressed his gratitude to USM for the recognition.

“Masaya po kami na sa mga maliliit na bagay na aming naisasauli ay nakita ng USM. Inaayos namin ang aming serbisyo dahil dito ang USM ay ang aming source of income,”  Mr. Baliwan explained.

In addition to the Honesty Seal, the university presented the drivers with cash gifts and certificates of recognition.
