The USMart Technology Business Incubator (USMart TBI) of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) welcomed the Research Information and Technology Transfer Division (RITTD) Team of the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) on August 29, 2025, for an onsite monitoring and startup coaching session.
The delegation was led by Ms. Russell M. Pili, Chief Technology Transfer Officer, together with Ms. Leizl D. Sueno, Senior Technology Transfer Officer; Engr. Anthon Jay B. Toledano, Project Technical Assistant IV; Engr. Mark Joshua P. Halili, Technology Transfer Officer; and Engr. John Edrick Coroza, Project Technical Assistant.

The monitoring activity was warmly received by Dr. Jalaloden Marohom, Prof. Danilyn Flores, Dr. Maricel Dayaday, Dr. Nerissa Dela Vina, Mr. Kim Abellanosa, Engr. John Lloyd Tamse, and Mr. Simeon Depita. It served as an opportunity to present USMart TBI’s Year 1 milestones, celebrate accomplishments, and further reinforce its commitment to supporting startups, particularly in the agri-food value chain.
During the visit, the DOST-PCIEERD team also conducted the INSIGHT Startup Ecosystem Census, a nationwide initiative that maps out startup enablers and reaffirms the agency’s commitment to strengthening regional innovation ecosystems.

As part of the visit, the team extended specialized coaching to startup spin-off SINAG, led by Dr. Marilyn P. Calub, focusing on refining its target market and advancing its path to commercialization. Additionally, Engr. Marc Macbeth Toledo, MSEE, and his team received valuable feedback for their emerging technology, gaining critical insights to refine and scale their innovation for broader impact.
Through these efforts, the collaboration between USMart TBI and DOST-PCIEERD continues to pave the way for researchers, innovators, and technopreneurs to transform ideas into sustainable, market-ready solutions that benefit communities.
