The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) through Dr. Ruben L. Tagare Jr. and Dr. Jomar B. Esto attended the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) International Research Conference and Training on August 26–28, 2025 at Citystate Asturias, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
Both professors served as adjudicators during the research presentations, contributing to the evaluation of academic outputs from various participating institutions. Aside from their adjudicator roles, they also carried out institutional functions for USM. Dr. Esto represented Prof. Bryan Lloyd Bretaña as PEHEIC Vice President for External Affairs, with Prof. Ruben L. Tagare Jr.. They facilitated sessions, provided recaps, and took part in the event.
USM was further honored with a Certificate of Recognition as one of the founding members of the Philippine-EAGA Higher Education Institutions Consortium (PHEHEIC), highlighting the university’s pioneering role in promoting academic collaboration and regional research partnerships.
Organized by PHEHEIC in cooperation with Palawan State University, the event carried the theme “Strengthening BIMP-EAGA Foundation on Resiliency, Inclusivity, Sustainability, and Economic Competitiveness.” researchers and delegates from the Philippines, Korea, Indonesia, and Malaysia, attended the conference. It reinforced the international dimension of the consortium’s initiatives.
Through its active involvement, USM continues to strengthen its commitment to international collaboration, sustainable development, and academic excellence within the BIMP-EAGA region, particularly in Mindanao and Palawan.
