Personnel from Adiong Memorial State College (AMSC) visited the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) to explore how the university handles internationalization, digital systems for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and participation in global university rankings on August 5, 2025.
Hosted by USM’s Office of International Affairs (OIA) through its Director, Prof. Bryan Bretaña, the benchmarking session focused on how USM works in aligning its academic and community programs with global frameworks like the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings and World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI).

According to Prof. Bretaña, the university put real effort into globalization. USM invested budget in strengthening digital infrastructure, including the launch of its SDG Hub, a web platform that tracks programs and news articles based on the SDGs. The tool is part of USM’s strategy to map and monitor its contributions to development goals, making data easier to share with global partners.
Mr. Aliasgar M. Mimbalawag, Information Officer, led the AMSC delegation. Joining him we’re Omaidah B. Adiong, Sohryah A. Jamel, Abdul Fattah M. Minalang, and Jeanette Louise Labial.
The visit ended with an open discussion on how state universities can work together to boost their visibility and impact by meeting international standards.
