The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) once again secured its ranking for two consecutive years in the 1501+ bracket in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025, despite a significant increase of participating institutions—from 1,963 last year to 2,318 this year.

This year, Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC), Green Valley College Foundation Inc. (GVCFI), and Notre Dame of Dadiangas University (NDDU) joined USM in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.

From participating in only six Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2024, USM has expanded its involvement to thirteen SDGs this year. These include the following with its corresponding ranking:

SDG1 No Poverty (Rank 1001+)
SDG2 Zero Hunger (Rank 601-800)
SDG3 Good Health and Well Being (Rank 1501+)
SDG4 Quality Education (Rank 1501+)
SDG5 Gender Equality (Rank 601-800)
SDG8 Decent Work and Economic Growth (Rank 801-1000)
SDG9 Industry Innovation, and Infrastructure (Rank 801-1000)
SDG10 Reduced Inequalities (Rank 1001+)
SDG11 Sustainable Cities and Communities (Rank 601-800)
SDG12 Responsible Consumption and Production (Rank 801+)
SDG15 Life on Land (Rank 401-600)
SDG16 Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (Rank 1001+)
SDG 17 Partnership for the Goals (Rank 1001-1500)

This year’s impact rankings feature 121 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines, a notable increase from only 56 institutions the previous year.

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance metrics that evaluate universities based on their contributions to the United Nations SDGs.
