Three students from the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) represented Cotabato province in the 25th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Regional Level held on November 12, 2019 at East Asia Royale Hotel, General Santos City.

The team from USM was composed of Diana Rose Jasmin, 1st year Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics, who finished second place with only a point margin from the champion; Kent Van Bayog, 1st year BS Civil Engineering, who placed third; and finalist Kenneth John Bayog, also 1st year BS Civil Engineering. Prof. Honey Vincent Valle from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics served as their coach.

Organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority and Philippine Statistical Association, Inc, PSQ is a nationwide annual contest conducted in line with the National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration designed to test the knowledge in statistics of freshmen students in colleges and universities.

The three students from USM bested all other contenders from different schools in North Cotabato on October 30, 2019 during the provincial elimination held at Elai’s Resort, Kidapawan City.

The regional champion will represent the region to the 25th PSQ National Finals which will be conducted on November 29, 2019 in Metro Manila.
