Kabacan, Cotabato – Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) from Carmen National High School – Senior High School (CNHS-SHS) toured the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) on March 21, 2025, as part of their educational exposure trip.

The visiting team included seventy Grade 12 STEM students, along with CNHS-SHS Faculty members Arnevynce Laurel, Lowella Mae O. Gubaton, and Andy P. Saliling.

The tour highlighted key academic and research facilities of the university, including the Science and Technology (S&T) Building, the USM Library, Instrumentation System Modeling, Assembly and Response Testing Laboratory (iSMART), and the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC).

CNHS-SHS coordinated with the Office of the Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension (OVPRDE), Research Development Office (RDO), and Extension Services Office (ESO) to facilitate the tour and ensure a smooth collaboration between the visiting participants and the university.

USM-ESO has an existing partnership with the CNHS-SHS through the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) extension project: Attendance Management and Library Services for Carmen Senior High School: System Development and Resource Enhancement.

Arnevynce Laurel, a Practical Research II Adviser from CNHS-SHS, expressed his appreciation for the educational tour at the university.

“Thank you so much for the opportunity and warmly accommodating us. The [CNHS-SHS] truly appreciate the support and generosity.” Laurel stated.

The tour aimed to provide the students with hands-on exposure to the advanced laboratory facilities of USM.
