The Pharmacy Department of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) under the College of Health Sciences, conducted its 4th White Coating and Pinning Ceremony on July 11, 2025, at the University Commercial Building, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.
A total of 46 BS Pharmacy students received their white coats and pins as they enter their fourth year and begin their clinical and field training.
In his opening remarks, Thaddeus Averilla, MD, Dean of the College of Health Sciences, emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism, and readiness as students transition into real-world healthcare settings.
Dr. Debbie Verzosa delivered a message on behalf of University President Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel. She highlighted perseverance as a key trait that supports long-term success, especially in demanding fields like pharmacy.
Meanwhile, guest speaker Kenny Rose P. Ocon, RPh, MD, the first cum laude graduate of USM’s BS Pharmacy program, shared her experiences as both a pharmacist and physician. She advised the students to remain committed to their responsibilities, serve with compassion, and stay focused despite challenges.
The activity is part of the program’s transition phase as students begin their clinical exposure and practical duties in hospitals and pharmacies this academic year.
