ULRC plays vital role in the recent Accreditation

The Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP)  conducted a  survey visit of the programs of the different colleges  of the University of Southern Mindanao Kabacan, Cotabato on September 19-21, 2016.The colleges that underwent accreditation were College of Education (CED), College of Engineering and Computing (CENCOM) and the College of Human Ecology and Food Sciences (CHEFS) The accreditation process helps the university to evaluate its efforts in enhancing the quality of student learning and the quality of programs and services it offered. Moreover, it strengthens quality assurance and improves qualities which are significant factors for global competitiveness.

The University Learning Resource Center (ULRC) played a major role during the survey visit. It ensured the provision of facilities; services and information resources that supported the four fold functions of the university such as,   instruction, research, extension and resource generation. The provision of adequate library materials to support the nature, level and scope of the different programs under survey was given due consideration by the ULRC. In addition to its adequate number of qualified staff with appropriate educational qualifications and experiences in library operations it maintained sufficient and well-organized collections in all formats which are accessible to all students, faculty, and the academic community of the university.

Under the leadership of the dynamic Director of Libraries, Dr. Anita C. Sornito, actions were taken in compliance to the recommendations of the previous visit of the accreditors with emphasis on various aspects related to the functionalities of the library.
