The University Learning Resource Center (ULRC) conducted its annual Library Staff Enhancement Program last May 30 to June 2, 2016. Highlights of the event included the reecho session, benchmarking and team building activities. Various topics were presented and discussed by the speakers during the reecho session. The speakers during the reecho session were the ULRC librarians who attended seminars, conferences and congress in the provincial, regional and national level.
The ASEANization of Filipino Librarians was shared and discussed by Susan S. Martinez, head of the Technical Services, Dielita M. Garcia, librarian, University Laboratory School (ULS) talked about Libraries as a Sustainable Development Tool, Ariel P. Arrogante, librarian of the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) lectured on the Readiness of Philippine School/ Academic libraries in K-12 Implementation: a Cross Sectional Study. Genevive P. Catulong, Circulation librarian, updated the participants on Maintenance of Current Records and Lilian M. Clarito, serial librarian, talked about Financial Literacy: The Key to Financial Freedom. To encourage the library staff to continually promote the quality service to the clientele, Dr. Anita C. Sornito, Director ULRC comprehensively discussed Best Practices in Libraries.
Benchmarking activities were held at Davao City and Davao Oriental. The undertaking aimed to update the library staff on the current trends and acquire new knowledge in the field of librarianship. The group had a wonderful opportunity to visit two museums of Davao Oriental, the Subangan Davao Oriental Provincial Museum and the Mt. Hamiguitan Natural Science Museum.
Subangan (first born) museum is a fitting testament to the province’s fervor and
the indomitable spirit of its people. It is home to a heritage, a material culture and a font of pride for generation to come. Mt.
Hamiguitan Natural Science Museum on the other hand, showcases the grandeur of the Philippine Biodiversity.
The culmination of the Library Staff Enhancement Program was held at Blue Bless Resort, Dahican, Mati City, Davao Oriental. Team building activities were conducted to promote camaraderie, teamwork and solidarity among the staff and harness their core competencies in achieving the goals, objectives and aspirations of the ULRC.
