On June 28, 2016 the University Learning Resource Center (ULRC) in collaboration with the Philippine Librarians Association Inc. (PLAI) Region XII and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) conducted its extension activities at the Bai Matabai Plang (BMP) Custodial Center (Orphanage) of Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology (CFCST) at Doruluman Arakan, Cotabato. The undertaking aimed to help the marginalized and underserved group to have equal access to information.
Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing was held between Dr. Anita C. Sornito, Project Leader, Director ULRC, president of PLAI XII and executive vice president for Mindanao of PLAI National, Fe G. Diaz from the NCCA highlighted the event with key officials of CFCST as witnesses. Dr. Sornito was able to obtain a funding for the rehabilitation and enhancement of the library collection of the Custodial Learning Center from the NCCA. The NCCA served as the monitoring body in the implementation of the project. The core group during the visitation was composed of ULRC librarians, University Laboratory School (ULS) faculty, PLAI Region XII officers and a representative from the NCCA. The group witnessed and obtained first hand information about the plight of the orphans at the custodial center. They are determined to pursue whatever assistance that they could extend to the orphans with the belief that “All Lives have Equal Value.’’(AARROGANTE)
