On June 28, 2016 the University Learning Resource Center (ULRC) in collaboration with the Philippine Librarians Association Inc. (PLAI) Region XII and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) conducted its extension activities at the Bai Matabai Plang (BMP) Custodial Center (Orphanage) of Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology (CFCST) at Doruluman Arakan, Cotabato. The undertaking aimed to help the marginalized and underserved group to have equal access to information.
The Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) conducted the 29th AACCUP Annual National Conference on February 17-19, 2016 at Century Park Hotel, Malate, Manila with the theme, “Internalizing Accreditation in Higher Education, Internationalizing the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc”.
One of the highlights of the 29th Annual Conference was the giving of awards to the members of the AACCUP who manifested exceptional talent as evidenced by the effective instructional practice that provided models of excellence in their respective profession to help students succeed.
With the theme “Philippine Libraries : Future Possibilities” the University Learning Resources Center (ULRC) University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Kabacan, Cotabato celebrates the 80th National Book Week and Information Month on November 24-29, 2014. Various activities were conducted aimed at promoting and encouraging the community the love for reading. It was also an awareness campaign on the part of the ULRC to inform the community on its resources and the extent and nature of its services. Culmination activities were conducted in partnership with Cotabato Libraries and Information Network Inc. (COLINet) at Amas Provincial Capitol, Amas, Cotabato on December 5, 2014. To ensure wider and greater participation of the different libraries in the province, different contest were held and participated by librarians, library in charge, elementary, high school and college students from private and public schools and Bachelor of Library and Information Science students from University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Kabacan, Cotabato and Southern Christian College (SCC) Midsayap, Cotabato. Arvin M. Tejada, Division Hub Librarian, Koronadal City was the Keynote Speaker. Airene Claire A. Pagal, Board Member 2nd District, Province of Cotabato delivered the inspirational message.
The future, it is often said, belongs to those who plan for it. The Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) of which the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) is a proud member has been established to build a greater networks aiming to foster the tertiary institution oneness in direction. Anchored on this principle, MASTS conducted a seminar workshop and paper presentation on Infrastructure Connectivity for Collaboration of Systems towards ASEAN 2015 Integration and Information Communication Technology (ICT) Infrastructure for Library System on October 25, 2014 at Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology Library, Mati City, Davao Oriental.
