  • June 2011 - CHEFS sponsored a series of in-service training/ seminars participated in by faculty, staff, alumni and students. The seminars conducted were as follows: Professional Ethics, Instructional Materials Development, Glycemic  Index of Foods, and Thesis Writing.
  • July 2011 - Prof Josephine G Tangonan, Dr Tessie G Viloria and Prof Leila S Moscoso, project leader and study leaders, respectively, received the Best Paper Award (Development Category) for their paper entitled, “Integrated root crops processing systems for diversified food products”, during the 31st USM RD&E In-House Review held on July 6-8, 2011 at Café Martina, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.
  • The College produced 22 (out of 41) new Registered Nutritionist-Dietitians during the recently concluded Licensure Examination of Nutritionist-Dietitians held on July 26 and 27, 2011 in Zamboanga City. The USM passing rate was 53.65% and among the passers, 20 (67%) were enrolled at the Review Center. The successful examinees were: Abler, Ceelene Elyza D, Ambay, Glaisa Marie C, Balawag, Nhorpha K, Cabacungan, Rose Ann J, Cabrera, Ma Chona M, Corpuz, Sandy P, Cuyong, Anthony C, Delfin, Jessa Mae Joy C, Emejas, Jayvee D, Gambol, Genevive M, Gani, Charess L, Geronca, Jaquelyn M, Hatamosa, Jocelyn G, Jabines, Charise L, Laguiban, Jasmina S, Padronado, Rhean G, Palec, Cherry Pink S, Pangcog, Jinky P, Polido, Jeffrey P, Tanallon, Princess Grace E, Taposok, Ivy Jee V, and Uli, Liza A.
  • The College acquired two (2) units of computer sets for the laboratory, two (2) units of LCD projectors and screen, one (1) unit desktop computer set, one (1) unit bar counter, ten (10) units of new whiteboards for the lecture rooms, two (2) additional electric ovens, five (5) electric mixers, and five (5) blenders. Furthermore, the following works were completed: installation of one (1) aircon unit at the mini library of the College; tiling of Central Laboratory Room, FT Laboratory Room, Sensory Laboratory Room, ND laboratory, Dean’s Office Lobby, ND & FT Faculty Room, mini library/ research & extension office, installation of 3 exit doors (AVR, FT lab & Sensory room), repainting and tiling of Culinary Arts Laboratory room, installation of window grills IHTTM Chairman’s Office, housekeeping laboratory room & bar room; and repair of laboratory faucets & drainage at Central Laboratory & Sensory Room.
  • August 2011 - The research paper of Prof Josephine G Tangonan, Dr Tessie G Viloria and Prof Leila S Moscoso entitled “Functional foods from yacon and tugui”, was adjudged as “Best Paper” (Development category) during the 19th Regional Symposium on R&D Highlights and Technology Commercialization Forum sponsored by CARRDEC on August 4-5, 2011 at ULS Convention Hall, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.
  • Two curricular programs – Bachelor of Science in Food Technology and Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management had undergone AACCUP 1st level survey and preliminary visits, respectively.
  • Miss Dianne Cristel M Basilio, a fourth year BS Tourism Management student of the College won first (1st) place during the Regional Tourism Quiz Bee sponsored by the Department of Tourism, Region 12 held on August 23, 2011 at Cotabato City. Ms Basilio represented the region in the National Tourism Quiz Bee held on September 2 4, 2011 at SMX Convention Center, MOA, Manila.
  • Selected students of International Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Management Department (IHTTM) garnered First Runner-up in the “Kumbati sa Kusina”, a TESDA Skills competition during the Kalivungan Festival 2011 held on August 29, 2011 at Amas, Kidapawan City. The contested areas and awards received were:

  • September 2011 - Selected Food Technology students participated in the Agro-Trade Fair during the Kalivungan Festival. They showcased their processed fruit and vegetable products like jams, concentrates, preserves and dried fruits/vegetables.
  • All degree programs (BS Hotel and Restaurant Management, BS Tourism Management, BS Travel Management, BS Nutrition and Dietetics and BS Food Technology) of the College had been reviewed and revised to conform to CHED memorandum and recommendations of AACCUP accreditors. The revised curricula of the ND and FT programs were presented to the College meeting of faculty, staff, students and alumni.
