Some MIT Batch 61 headed by Mr. Romeo Austria visited USM and conducted their core group meeting held last February 15, 2011 at USM Alumni Homes with the USM Batch 86 represented by Mr. Tomas Moneva. This is in preparation on their hosting of the Alumni Homecoming come September 30  as the 2011 Golden & Silver Jubilarians. Also discussed during that meeting are the possible project support to the University and Alumni associationby linking with successful alumni working outside the country. Mrs. Dely Pascual Gapasin, Batch 61 committed to workout such linkage.

USM President Jesus G. Derije and USMAA President Cedric Mantawil , USM Faculty Association president Anita Tacardon and CED Dean Tony Tacardon welcomed the group. Other present were retired DILG XI Regional Director Jaime Madriano, Mrs. Ely Austria, Mr. Delfin Guting, Mrs. Rico, Ms. Epifania Bose and Ms. Filipinas Ordinario.
